Experience the sun-ripened perfection of Ah Poh's durians, delivered to you at peak flavour the same day they're harvested. To ensure this, Ah Poh arrives at his farm at dawn and dusk, ensuring that the freshness is never compromised.
I am always lucky to have a chance to be a commentator for my dad's durian. (Of course, being in charge of writing for his blog is a valid reason to taste what he grows)This time round, let's compare "Musang King", "Old Lady", and "Black Thorn" and see which one ranks the top based on my taste buds.
"Musang King" was the first variety I had tasted: The tumeric-yellowed flesh and a slight acidity, with more sweetness, meet the basic standards.

I would say, this season, "Old Lady"/"Lao Char Boh"/ 老太婆 still wins my heart! It is at the top among the rest. Let me hold my excitement for a minute because first things first, I have to share with you how it tastes:
It's creamy, like cream cheese melting in your mouth. The flavour was much stronger than "Musang King"! Sweetness is stronger, with a lingering aftertaste that makes you want more!

Just a few tips: the flavour of durian is determined by the water, wind, soil minerals, and the cultivator's knowledge. Therefore, we have the saying in Chinese "一方水土养一方人", which means that the elements of a place will nourish the people residing there. It is the same for durian, like the "terroir" notion in wine, different areas have their own special flavour of "King of fruit."
Let's have a feast during the durian harvesting season and expand your durian map to Yong Peng!
